Family & Friends: Our Heart and Soul
We believe that it takes a village to raise a child, and we have that village and group of supporters all around us. I know with both of our strong family values that we will be able to give our baby all the love that they deserve and open their world to so many amazing possibilities.
Nick's mother lives a short 5 minute drive up the street, as do both of his sisters. Nick is a middle child, with one sister 2 years older, and one sister 12 years younger. Nick's father passed away when Nick was 8 years old from a rare (non-genetic) heart condition. This is something that we bonded over, because my father also passed away when I was a freshman in college. Though this is obviously a very tragic experience for both of us, it taught us the true importance of family and of being there in the moment and not taking life for granted.
Nick's family is half Italian and half Greek, so dinner with them is loud and fun. Nobody is more loving or excited about us adopting a baby than Nick's mom. She has been talking to us about when we were going to have her grand-babies since I first met her, even before Nick and I were officially a couple!
I speak to my mother almost every single day and she is one of my absolute best friends. I hope to have this same close relationship with our future child. My sister has the same relationship with our mother that I do, and I am very close to my sister as well. We were each-other's Maids of Honor at our weddings, and are typically the first phone call made for advice. I want your child to know that we will be there no matter what, just like my Mom and sister are for me, and Nick's family is for him, with all the love and encouragement that we have in our bodies. Your child will be raised being extremely close to their Grandma and Nana, with their Aunts and Uncles spoiling them, and with Cousins to love and play with.
Our friends are also extremely excited for us and our adoption journey and have provided a lot of love and support. Most of our friends have kids, ranges from newborn to 9 years old. All of our game nights, friends-giving dinners and hangouts are all kid friendly. There are toys everywhere, and in addition to all the sounds from the various toys you can hear tons of laughter, both from the children and from our friends. We are so lucky to have a group like this to call our friends.
